I normally shot in the Downtown Houston Area, but for this dynamic couple I decided to switch things up. We ventured into the Museum District of Houston, Texas and created some magic. James and Shakeela were a fun couple and they laughed at all my horrible jokes so they are ok in my book.

Houston Texas Nigerian and Eritrean Engagement Session featuring Osaze and Tirhas 5-16-18
I had never had a completely traditional engagement session before, but Osaze and Tirha gave me a chance to bring their vision to life. These two looked incredible, Osaze and his future wife looked like royalty in their traditional garments. Tirha’s beautiful cheek bones shined through the entire session and Osaze boasted regal style. We shot the first half of the session at Studio 1306, which is conveniently located in downtown Houston. The black background made their outfits and skin tones jump right out at you.

Chance is adorable, that is the entire write up. Just joking, my long time friend Elmo Parker whose wedding I'll be shooting this year reached out to me about capturing some images of his son. Most parents say their child is cute or adorable but they are usually bias. Well thats not the case for Chance, this kid has the look. We captured some quick images in the heart of Third Ward Houston, Texas right near Elmo World Famous Restaurant Kim's Kitchen. I love how the images came out, and if you disagree with his cuteness something may be wrong with you

Being based out of Houston, Texas and being a wedding and engagement photographer you have to do things differently to stand out. So over the past couple of years I have noticed several signature things that I do when I photograph couples during weddings and engagement photo sessions. The one similarity that jumped out at me the most was that I had photographed every single one of my couples hands.

Day for Night is an amazing festival which I have been lucky enough to shoot for the past three years. This year was different, something came over me - it may sound corny, but I felt I had a duty. Here is the backstory to this feeling: I was listening to Solange's album so that I would know the words and could fan out after I shot her set, and -BAM-, the song "F.U.B.U.” hit me.
I thought to myself, how often does the Black community get the spotlight at these type of festivals. Our talents are often showcased, but us as patrons are often nowhere to be found. I'm not making this a white and black thing, but more of a "hey we are awesome and check US out". So I took it into my own hands and documented patrons that shared my melanin disposition.

Downtown Houston Engagement Session Featuring Ashford + AP
I recently had the chance to work with an amazing couple, Ashford and AP. I met with them prior to their shoot and they were warm and sweet. Ashford seems quiet and reserved but AP, on the other hand, you could tell had some adventurism within him. So the day of the session the Astro's were having their Championship parade, which means the traffic was tragic but Ashford brought the slay with her and AP held his own. The session was colorful, upbeat, and very fashion forward. These two have an amazing sense of style and I can't wait to see what the wedding has to offer.

Myri's parents commissioned me to capture a paramount moment in most young kids’ lives, THEY become teenagers. Myri was turning 13 and we had to capture some amazing images to share the moment with the world. We shot at the Houston Rental Studio, which is in EADO Houston, and it has an amazing feel to it. One side of the facility is all white, while the other side has an industrial warehouse look and feel to it. We chose two different colors which came out amazing. The session went so well! Myri's mother, who actually looks like her sister, joined in on the fun. Papa Keenan also had some behind the scene images but, he opted out of being on the blog. That’s the nice way of saying he didn't make it (lol). You don't have to trust my word for it, take a peek at the images!
