Gerald D. Hines Waterwall and Hermann Park Engagement Photography Session Featuring Salmah & Akil was a success! Salmah and Akil have an electrical love! I say this because the sparks in Salmah eyes when she looks at the Akil is very evident. Akil’s energy matched Salmah’s, and you could tell because he would sneak a look at his wife to be me every moment he could. His eyes showed how much he adored her, and it was well deserved because Salmah was a pleasure. She laughed at all my bad jokes and gave me very useful information about being vegan and Covid.
Ashton Garden West is where Osaze and Tirhas’ culturally infused reception took place but their day begun in the Energy Corridor of Houston Texas. The ceremony was held at Notre Dame Catholic Church , a Southwest Houston Catholic staple. I don’t know how the couple pulled it off but this was our first time there and a complete mass wasn’t held.
I normally shot in the Downtown Houston Area, but for this dynamic couple I decided to switch things up. We ventured into the Museum District of Houston, Texas and created some magic. James and Shakeela were a fun couple and they laughed at all my horrible jokes so they are ok in my book.
Kenneth aka “Mookey” is a Lamar Redskin Alumni and dear friend of mine, so when his wife to be Melissa also a fellow Lamar Redskin Alumni reached out to me to cover their approaching special day at the Hess Club, I was all over it.
I had the chance to work with an amazing couple, Tolu and Segun! I’ve known Tolu since our college days at University of Houston ,and ever since then I remember her being this goofy young lady with elegant signature gap in between two front her teeth. You would figure with time some of that goofiness would ware off, well if you figured that you figured wrong. Tolu is still a fun loving young lady, the only thing that has changed is her partner in crime enjoys her antics and sometimes partakes in them. At first Segun was quiet and very reserved, but I would say mid way through the session I finally got to see the REAL Segun. Segun became a fountain of jokes and funny faces. Once he opened up it was apparent why this two had chosen each other. They love to laugh, and they love each other.
The Bell Tower on 34th is a beautiful venue and was a fitting scene for AP and Ashford's special wedding day. When I met AP and Ashford for their engagement session I instantly felt a great vibe from these two. AP was cool and calm, you could tell he has lived a bit. Ashford was shy and quiet but AP keep her laughing. They have a really great chemistry and it was evident day of the wedding.
If you're looking for sibling goals, look no further than Gloria, Victor and Blessing Oyeniyi- who have all earned the title of Doctor.
As the children of Nigerian immigrants, the trio moved to Texas in 1995 and went on to develop a passion for the field of healthcare. Victor told Jonathan Martin of FOX 26 Houston."They (their parents) wanted and they aspired for us to be doctors, whether it was medical or professional. They just wanted us to have that title, and be the best at anything we chose to be."
I had never had a completely traditional engagement session before, but Osaze and Tirha gave me a chance to bring their vision to life. These two looked incredible, Osaze and his future wife looked like royalty in their traditional garments. Tirha’s beautiful cheek bones shined through the entire session and Osaze boasted regal style. We shot the first half of the session at Studio 1306, which is conveniently located in downtown Houston. The black background made their outfits and skin tones jump right out at you.
Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas 10 minutes shy of The Baylor University is a astonishing venue. Magnolia Market has rustic but very contemporary feel as well, which set the scene for an amazing engagement session. Yinka is a relative young man but his a demeanor speaks otherwise, which was perfect for Crystal's bubbly and fun youthful spirit. The two had an amazing energy between the two, and their was something very pure about their love. Plus when a women looks at you like the way she looks at him you're in a peachy place.
Downtown Houston was the scene for this engagement session featuring Courtney and Harvetta. Harvetta first outfit was stellar and Courtney did a amazing job of matching her fly. The two of them had such a playful demeanor during the entire shot and you could truly tell that Courtney is marrying the love of his life.
St. Lukes Methodist Church was a beautiful sight to see, the architecture was astonishing. The chapels are immaculate, especially the ivory colored marble floors. What an amazing finish! Although the church held much beauty, the true beauty came when I got the chance to work with two stellar people.
My most recent Houston styled engagement session was so much fun and I had the chance to work with some of Houston amazing photographers. Ebony and LaMarcus of DifferentWorldImages reached out to me to shot some rebranding imagery, and my first response was "Me"? In short I was honored to work with the two.
Chance is adorable, that is the entire write up. Just joking, my long time friend Elmo Parker whose wedding I'll be shooting this year reached out to me about capturing some images of his son. Most parents say their child is cute or adorable but they are usually bias. Well thats not the case for Chance, this kid has the look. We captured some quick images in the heart of Third Ward Houston, Texas right near Elmo World Famous Restaurant Kim's Kitchen. I love how the images came out, and if you disagree with his cuteness something may be wrong with you
Nigerian Weddings in Houston, Texas are a common sight, but Lola and Sam's wedding was far from common. They shared their special day with close family and friends, and did it with a Great Gatsby vibe. Lola, a bright and bubbly individual, and Sam a quiet and cool character.
Sugarland, Texas has a small town feel and that was the perfect for this family portrait photo session. Karla(far right) commissioned us to capture her, her sisters, and mother so that they could fresh this moment in time. The sisters (Kristen far right, Keri Middle) had their own unique personalities and their mother(The youngest looking one) was a riot.
Being based out of Houston, Texas and being a wedding and engagement photographer you have to do things differently to stand out. So over the past couple of years I have noticed several signature things that I do when I photograph couples during weddings and engagement photo sessions. The one similarity that jumped out at me the most was that I had photographed every single one of my couples hands.
Houston, Texas was the scene of most recent Downtown Engagement Photo Session. I had the pleasure of working with Miranda McCray and Samual Short. Miranda and Sam are both Mississippi natives but they have transplanted to Houston, Texas. The session was pretty fun because these two have a great sense of humor and the smiles spilled through the photos. The daylight portion of the engagement session was at Market Square Park which is historic area of Downtown Houston.
I recently had the chance to work with an amazing couple, Ashford and AP. I met with them prior to their shoot and they were warm and sweet. Ashford seems quiet and reserved but AP, on the other hand, you could tell had some adventurism within him. So the day of the session the Astro's were having their Championship parade, which means the traffic was tragic but Ashford brought the slay with her and AP held his own. The session was colorful, upbeat, and very fashion forward. These two have an amazing sense of style and I can't wait to see what the wedding has to offer.
Kaitlyn and Christian have a unique love that many may never get to witness and I was honored to capture their special day. Katilyn is a quiet but cheerful young lady and Christian is a comedian but sharp as blade. Together these to make a formidable couple. After their engagement session which we did earlier in the year, I expected the wedding to be elegant and a blast at the least. Alexia of the TheSavvyConsultants delivered once again; she and her team completely revamped the look of the Hughes Manor venue. The floral arrangements may have been some of the best I've seen all year, but that’s what I have grown to expect from Plant N Petals. The day begin at Houston's historic hotel, Hotel ICON, which is located in the heart of downtown. Kim Clark was the makeup artist for the day, and Kim always does an amazing job. Christian and the fellas got ready at home and worked with my second photographer Mike Munoz. From Hotel Icon, Kaitlyn and her bridesmaids rode a trolley to the midtown church where we captured some amazing portraits. Their first look was a happy and fun moment shared between the two.
Myri's parents commissioned me to capture a paramount moment in most young kids’ lives, THEY become teenagers. Myri was turning 13 and we had to capture some amazing images to share the moment with the world. We shot at the Houston Rental Studio, which is in EADO Houston, and it has an amazing feel to it. One side of the facility is all white, while the other side has an industrial warehouse look and feel to it. We chose two different colors which came out amazing. The session went so well! Myri's mother, who actually looks like her sister, joined in on the fun. Papa Keenan also had some behind the scene images but, he opted out of being on the blog. That’s the nice way of saying he didn't make it (lol). You don't have to trust my word for it, take a peek at the images!
Airat and Christopher were an amazing couple to work with. Their smiles were genuine and their style was superb. Chris brought it with his dapper blue velvet blazer, but Airat shut it down with her elegant red lace dress. We were able to book a studio session at the pretty popular West Studios which is in the Heights of of Houston. West Studio has some unique characteristics in and around it which gives you an opportunity to get one of a kind photos.
I had the pleasure of working Lynn and Wesley, a fellow former University of Houston football teammate. So we decided on making Downtown Houston our engagement photo session playground. These two are an awesome couple, and have a great energy between the two of them
On September 23 we had the pleasure of working with two easy going clients. Patricia, a gorgeous bride, who wore a stunning dress and Wilson who was just so happy the day had come were he could marry the love of his life. Patricia and her family rented a historic Galveston beach home which had amazing character, in other words it was a photographers play ground. Wilson enjoyed the comfort of Hotel Galvez while he was getting ready and we had some good laughs as we exchanged stories of fatherhood.
It has been a while since I have been back Downtown Houston to shoot since Hurricane Harvey, but when Evan reached out to me to shoot his engagement photos I was geeked and honored. I say I was geeked because Evan is a fellow photographer and I knew he would let me push the limits and I'm honored because out of all his photographer buddies he gave me the chance to work with him and his future bride to help create their vision.
Chelsea and Michael Harris commission me to capture a special moment in their lives. They are having their first child, and they were excited. Chelsea who is always very stylish had on the amazing blue gown and some killer Christian Louboutin heels to match but the silver next piece she wore stole the show. Micheal also come to impress with a unique vest and futuristic silver shoes, and he would tell me where he got them from. These two compliment each other very well and I can wait to see the stylish outfits they put on their new baby.
Elmo and Christa are the true definition of two people marrying their best-friend. Christa is a light hearted spirt and Elmo with his witty comments through the session made it a fun one. During our entire time at Chateau Cocomar,
This past weekend I had the chance to work with these two young and very talented models. Pierce and Brenna were featured models at a well known Instagram Meet up in Houston, this past weekend. We were in the Market Square Park which is one of the nicest parks in Downtown Houston area, and had many great elements. These two have great smiles and amazing baby blue eyes, but on top of their great looks they have warm and great personalities as well. This was a fun shot but hey don't take my word for it, let the images tell you.
I was fortunate enough to photograph an awesome milestone in any young person's life this past week for Tia Jackson. She was celebrating her 25 birthday, that may not be the correct age but I want to have a long life and you can't do that revealing women's age. Tia brought on Feyi ,a houston based stylist, that I had worked with before, and let me tell you guys Feyi came to Slay, I've always wanted to use that phrase.
Gerald D. Hines Waterwall and Hermann Park Engagement Photography Session Featuring Salmah & Akil was a success! Salmah and Akil have an electrical love! I say this because the sparks in Salmah eyes when she looks at the Akil is very evident. Downtown Houston during the fall is a beautiful place to shot, so when Bola and Donna commissioned me to capture them for their engagement!
